How to Eat Vegan in Bologna: Our favorite restaurants
Z&J Traveling: Even when traveling, we spend most of our time eating and want to share this with you, too. You want to know where to eat vegan in Barcelona, Athens, and Copenhagen and what to not miss in New York City, Lisbon or Mallorca? Check out all of our travel guides here.
If you are looking for a beautiful city, not too small, not too big and not too expensive - go and visit Bologna! We spend two days here and had a wonderful time, walking around the streets, eating pizza. The biggest advantage of italien food: it tastes great and you will always find a lot of vegan dishes: Spaghetti aglio e olio, Penne al Arrabiata or Pizza without cheese is waiting on every corner for you guys! So here are the best, vegan addresses for you in Bologna.
Un'Altra Idea
In the centre of the city is „Un'Altra Idea“, a café that offers breakfast and also hot dishes. It's not a very comfortable place for a break but we really loved the owner of the café. Go and try a coffee with their homemade almond milk!
La Margherita
„La Magherita“ is a small café that offers breakfast, cakes, coffee and more sweet stuff. They also serve these hearty pockets, we really liked. The stuff is also very friendly, so it's a beautiful place for your next stop. Yum!
San Domenico Pizzeria Oliva
We really have been looking forward to this Pizzeria! Even omnivorous friends told us to visit the „San Domenico Pizzeria Oliva“. And you also should definitely go and visit this place! It's a hip, modern restaurant to eat vegan pizzas. They offer gorgeous ingredients and combinations, we were thrilled!
Mallo
Mallo is very smiliar to „San Domenico Pizzeria Oliva“. They both belong to „A New Food“, but at Mallo everything is about homemade, delicious Pasta! It's a modern but upscale restaurant, that serves smaller portions for a little more money. For a special evening with a special person, it's definitely the place to be.
Pizzartist
In Bologna you can find Pizza-to-go at each corner. „Pizzartist“ always offers some versions without cheese and topped with mushrooms, tomatoes, arrugula and so on. We really liked their focaccia!
